Mets vs Astros Spring Training Highlights – (2/25/25)

The Mets and Astros gave fans a fun Spring Training showdown on February 25, 2025. Houston came out on top, 8-5. The game in West Palm Beach had plenty of action, with both teams showing off their skills.

The Mets got things going early when Jesse Winker knocked in Luisangel Acuña with an RBI single in the first. Acuña had a solid game, racking up a run, an RBI, and even swiping a base. Then, in the second, Jose Siri kept the momentum going, launching a solo homer to left-center.

But the Astros weren’t about to let the Mets steal the show. In the third, former Met Luis Guillorme smacked an RBI single to even things up at 4-4. Victor Caratini put Houston in front in the fifth with a solo shot, but the real star was Cam Smith. He put on a power display, cranking two home runs—one in the sixth for two runs and another solo blast in the eighth—to give the Astros some breathing room.

Pitching-wise, it was a mixed bag. Astros starter Ronel Blanco struggled, giving up five hits and three runs in just over an inning of work. On the Mets’ side, Brett Baty made his presence felt with a solo homer in the third as part of New York’s solid 11-hit effort.

Overall, this was a fun, back-and-forth game that gave fans a taste of what these teams are capable of heading into the season.
