As of February 28, 2025, these are the latest injury and roster moves for the New York Mets:
- Nick Madrigal (INF): Suffered a fractured left shoulder on February 23 during a Grapefruit League game. He is expected to undergo season-ending surgery and has been placed on the 60-day injured list.
- Sean Manaea (LHP): Diagnosed with a right oblique strain in late February. He has been shut down from throwing and is projected to return in mid-to-late April.
- Frankie Montas (RHP): Sustained a high-grade right lat strain in mid-February. He is currently in a six to eight-week no-throw period and is anticipated to return in late May or June.
- Dedniel Núñez (RHP): Experiencing a strained right flexor tendon. His return is expected by Opening Day or shortly thereafter.
- Christian Scott (RHP): Placed on the 60-day injured list on February 25 due to an elbow injury.
- Drew Smith (RHP): Placed on the 60-day injured list on February 13 because of an elbow injury.
In response to these pitching injuries, the Mets have signed right-hander José Ureña to a minor-league deal. Ureña, 33, posted a 3.80 ERA with the Texas Rangers last season and could earn $2 million if he joins the major-league roster.
Additionally, infielder Ronny Mauricio is recovering from knee surgery performed over a year ago. He is currently at about 80% and is expected to participate in Grapefruit League games by mid-March, followed by a minor league assignment.
