Mets Evening Roundup – March 11th 2025

Here is your Mets Evening Roundup for March 11, 2025 on of some things happening in Mets land.

Mets #2 in the MLB Top 10 Line ups

The New York Mets have secured the second spot in MLB.com’s ranking of the Top 10 lineups heading into the 2025 season, reflecting their formidable offensive potential. A key factor in this high ranking is the dangerous middle-of-the-order trio of Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, and Pete Alonso, who form one of the most balanced and explosive offensive cores in baseball. With Lindor setting the tone at the top, Soto bringing his elite plate discipline and power, and Alonso providing relentless slugging in the heart of the order, the Mets have a lineup that can put up runs in a hurry against any pitching staff.

Lindor’s move to the leadoff spot has revitalized his performance, leading to 73 extra-base hits and his highest on-base percentage (.344) since joining the Mets. Soto, coming off a third-place finish in the AL MVP voting, adds elite on-base skills and raw power that make pitchers constantly work. Meanwhile, Alonso remains the Mets’ primary home run threat, consistently hitting 40+ home runs a season and serving as the anchor in the cleanup spot. His ability to drive in runs and provide protection for Soto forces opposing pitchers into tough situations. Their combined presence, along with emerging bats like Mark Vientos, makes the Mets one of the most feared offensive teams heading into 2025, solidifying their place as a true World Series contender.

Timetable of Sproat coming up to the Majors?

The New York Mets are optimistic about Brandon Sproat’s potential to join their Major League roster, though they have not set a specific timetable for his debut. Sproat, 24, showcased his talent in the minors last season, excelling at Double-A Binghamton with a 2.45 ERA before encountering challenges at Triple-A Syracuse, where he posted a 7.85 ERA.  The Mets have carefully planned his development, intending to start him at Triple-A this season to refine his five-pitch repertoire, including a newly introduced sinker.

Mets’ pitching coach Jeremy Hefner has expressed confidence in Sproat’s abilities, noting, “He’s got the stuff, right?”Sproat remains focused on his progression, stating that he will be ready whenever the team needs him. While the Mets have not provided a specific timeline for his promotion, Sproat’s performance at Triple-A will be closely monitored, and a strong showing could expedite his path to the majors.

When will we see Mauricio see Grapefruit League games

Ronny Mauricio, the 23-year-old infielder for the Mets, is on a cautious path to recovery following a torn ACL in his right knee that he sustained during winter ball in December 2023. After undergoing surgery in January 2024, his recovery was further complicated by a second procedure in August to remove scar tissue.

As of February 2025, Mauricio has resumed baseball activities and is able to run at approximately 80% capacity. The Mets are optimistic about his progress and expect him to participate in Grapefruit League games by mid-March.

Given his extended absence from live pitching, the organization plans for Mauricio to begin the season with a minor league assignment to help him regain his form and timing. This approach aims to ensure that he is fully prepared before returning to the major league roster.
